https://www.heart.org/en/healthy-living/fitness/fitness-basics/target-heart-rates
Now that you have an understanding of heart rate and target heart rate, answer the following questions:
- What is resting heart rate? What is considered normal resting heart rate? What is your resting heart rate?
- Using the equation discussed in the article, what is your average maximum heart rate? HINT: Maximum Heart Rate = 220 bpm - Age.
- Find your target heart rate zone (50%-85% of Maximum Heart Rate). HINT: Target Heart Rate Zone = 0.50 x Maximum Heart Rate (bpm); 0.85 x Maximum Heart Rate (bpm)
- When you go for a run do you push yourself to reach your target heart rate zone? Why or why not?
REMEMBER: Respond to a minimum of TWO students' discussion posts before the next class meeting time.
